Tuesday 29 October - Youth games blown out

There was almost nothing to report this week as the Under-17s, Under-16s, Under-15s and Under-13s were all postponed because of the dreadful conditions on Sunday. The Under-14s did get started in their match, but after Franklyn MORRIS had given them a 1-0 lead against Pinnstars "A", the match was abandoned midway through the first half.

Saturday 26 October - Reserves lose by odd goal

The reserves frailty at the back was shown up as they conceded three late goals to lose 6-5 to Maidenhead United at home this afternoon. Maidenhead took the lead after 15 minutes, only to see Leon Maloney equalise within 30 seconds. The Magpies regained the lead midway through the half, before goals from Maloney and Brian Haule gave Hendon a half time lead. The lead was extended further early in the second half by Haule, only for Maidenhead to pull another goal back to make it 4-3. Troy Baltimore then made it 5-3, before the loss of Maloney, Haule and Sam Byfield to injuries during the second half was compounded as the defence fell apart to concede the three late goals and gift Maidenhead three points. Other first team squad players to make appearances this afternoon were Dan Burton, Duncan Hamilton and James Burgess.

Tuesday 22 October - Ofori nets late winner

Eugene Ofori fired home an injury time winner tonight as Hendon won 3-2 at Sutton United in a truly pulsating game that was very entertaining, particularly in the second half. However, all the other goals came in the first half. Sutton took the lead in the 8th minute when Nick Bailey took advantage of a slip in the Hendon defence, but in the 22nd minute Steve Forbes fired home a fierce drive from the edge of the area after some excellent build up play. Danny Bolt put Sutton back in front on the half hour mark with one of his trademark freekicks that flew in well out of reach of David Hook. Hendon fought back and deservedly equalised on the stroke of half time when Paul Towler scrambled the ball home from a corner - for his first goal of the season. Ofori popped up with the winner at the end of the second half, which had seen both Ricci Crace and Forbes hit the woodwork, and the result saw Hendon bounce back from the weekend disappointment in style.

Monday 21 October - Reserve and youth round up

It turned out to be a generally disappointing weekend for Hendon as every team that played lost, with the exception of the Under 13's who beat higher division Watling Club 1-0 in the League Cup. The reserves lost 2-1 at Crawley Town after Steve Baker had given Hendon the lead after 25 minutes, while the Under 16's, Under 15's and Under 14's all slipped to disappointing defeats in their respective games. Full details can be found by clicking on the relevant links on the left hand side.

Saturday 19 October - Disappointment for Greens

It was a disappointing performance this afternoon as an injury weakened Hendon side lost 2-0 at home to Bedford Town, the first home defeat since mid-March. In front of the biggest league crowd since January 2000, Bedford took the lead in the 17th minute when Rob Miller scrambled the ball home. The lead was doubled five minutes before half time when Kevin Slinn fired a fine shot past David Hook. Hendon's best chances fell to Martin Randall and Paul Yates in the second half, but no one was really able to force Eagles keeper Steve Wilson into a save.

Friday 18 October - Get behind the team tomorrow

As mentioned below Dave Anderson wants the supporters to get behind the team and make some noise as we go into tomorrow's game against Bedford Town. The Eagles have had some good results in the league of late, beating St Albans City, drawing against Grays Athletic, and only losing by an odd goal to Aldershot Town. However, they did slip up in the FA Cup last weekend, losing 2-0 at Wisbech Town. Meanwhile, the reserves are also in action tomorrow afternoon as they make the trip into Sussex to play Crawley Town.

Friday 18 October - Dale Binns injury update

Many supporters will by now be aware that Dale Binns had an operation on his troublesome groin last week which appears to have been successful. It is hoped that he will be back in action in 6-8 weeks time. We wish Dale all the best for a speedy recovery

Friday 18 October - Managers meeting details

The managers meeting took place last night, with a dozen supporters turning up to discuss the season so far with Dave Anderson. As expected the meeting was generally positive following the excellent start to the season, but Dave did say that our next eight games would show where we are likely to finish this season. However, he's aim at the moment is still to ensure we avoid relegation, and also that we are still taking each game on its own merits. One point that Dave did make was that he was disappointed with the support on Tuesday evening, that it was rather muted having been excellent throughout the season so far. The volume of support does make a difference to the team, so he wants the supporters to get behind the players, support them all the way, and hopefully help to further good results throughout the season.

Wednesday 16 October - Goal credited to Haworth

After speaking to Rob Haworth this morning, the goal last night against Kingstonian has been credited to him by the club as he confirmed that it was definitely him that the ball hit on the way into the net. This was also apparently the general concenscus in the dressing room after the game

Wednesday 16 October - No first team game on 26th

There will be no game on Saturday 26th October to replace the postponed fixture against Bishop's Stortford. The club did look into a number of possibilities for rearranging a game, but nothing could be arranged. The reserves are due to be playing that day, and it is possible that some first teamers may make an appearance. We will give more details next week.

Wednesday 16 October - Managers meeting tomorrow

Don't forget that tomorrow night sees the first Managers meeting of the season, which is your chance to quiz Dave Anderson about the season so far, and how he hopes to progress as the season continues. It would be great to see a good turnout, and Dave is always frank and honest with his answers.

Tuesday 15 October - Two form sides draw

The two form sides in the league drew this evening at Claremont Road, with Hendon and Kingstonian scoring a goal each. After a delayed kick off (due to traffic on the North Circular - the Kingstonian Supporters' coach arrived at 9.00), the first half turned out to be without significant incident, neither side managing to break the deadlock. However, on 59 minutes, a David Hook attempted to clear a Kingstonian corner, but only succeeded in turning the ball into his own net. However, the Greens hit back in the 79th minute when a Forbes strike struck Ofori, for the second game running, before crossing the line to earn the Dons' a point. Late on, the evening was soured for Hendon when James Burgess was sent of for a second bookable offence.

Tuesday 15 October - Big game tonight

It's a big game tonight as we entertain Kingstonian at Claremont Road in a game that gives us a chance to go top of the table for the first time in many years. Kingstonian are unbeaten in the league so far this season, and following their suspension at the start of the season are now starting to catch up on their games in hand. They suffered a disappointment at the weekend losing 2-0 to Boreham Wood in the FA Cup, so both sides will be looking to bounce back and continue their excellent league form. Lets get a big, noisy support there tonight to hopefully cheer the team on to another three points.

Tuesday 15 October - Reserve and youth update

It was a largely successful weekend for our other sides who were in action. The reserves beat Walton & Hersham 1-0, the Under 17's won 3-2, the Under 16's won 4-1, the Under 15's won 3-0, but the Under 14's learnt a big lesson as they lost their league cup tie 12-3 against Belmont United

Tuesday 15 October - Goal awarded to Forbes

Saturday 12 October - Stortford game postponed

Saturday 12 October - Greens out of cup

Hendon were knocked out of the FA Cup at the 3rd Qualifying Round for the second year running today, Hastings United recording a win which was more comfortable than the 2-1 scoreline suggested. Hastings were dominant for the first 85 minutes - restricting Hendon to just three decent efforts in the entire game - although despite four good efforts in the first half, the East Sussex side failed to go ahead into half time. However, the breakthrough came in the 55th minute through Danny Simmonds, the Dr Martens League side then doubling their lead in the 86th minute through Graham Webb. Hendon hit back just a minute later - a deflection off Hastings defender Adam Flanagan pulling one back for the Greens, but despite throwing all they could at Hastings in the last 5 minutes, Hendon couldn't find the equaliser.

Friday 11 October - Hastings tomorrow

The first team travel to Hastings United in the FA Cup tomorrow hoping to continue the good form so far this season. A win tomorrow would leave the Greens just one match away from the First Round proper, so let's try and get as many supporters there as possible to get behind the team and urge them on to another victory.

Friday 11 October - Hollingdale loan extended

Rob Hollingdale has been signed on a second month's loan spell from Woking. His loan period was due to end on this coming Tuesday, but the two clubs have agreed that he can remain at Hendon for another four weeks.

Saturday 05 October - Greens go third

Hendon moved into third place in the Premier Division following their 4-0 win at Heybridge Swifts this afternoon. The Greens took an early lead in the 4th minute when Eugene Ofori knocked the ball home from a Rob Haworth cross. In the 43rd minute Haworth himself scored when he headed home a Paul Towler cross. Early in the second half Steve Forbes made it three when he broke clear of the defence to score clinically, and the final goal came in the 76th minute when Martin Randall headed the ball home after a Kieran Gallagher freekick hit the woodwork. The final seven minutes saw teenager Sam Byfield make his debut after a few good showings in the reserves. Hendon are now only three points behind leaders St Albans City and have the best goal difference in the league at the moment.

Central defender Pat Sappleton has left the club and signed for Boreham Wood. Pat was unable to win a regular place in the first team, and has decided to move on to try and further his career. We wish Pat all the best for the future and think him for his efforts at the club over the past few years in the first team, reserves and youth team.

Tuesday 01 October - Ducks turned over

Hendon won 3-1 at Claremont Road tonight, Aylesbury United not proving to be the stiffest opposition. It took 31 minutes for the deadlock to be broken, Eugene Ofori breaking clear of the defence and blasting the ball past a slightly out of position Adam Wheeler, the keeper having no chance. Paul Yates doubled the lead 10 minutes after the break sending Wheeler the wrong way after Ofori was brought down in the box. Joe Baker pulled one back for the Ducks in the 88th minute, but Ofori put the Greens two up again, dragging Wheeler out of his goal and placing the ball across the Aylesbury favourite
