Monday 29 September - Tough test for replay winners

The winners of Wednesday nights FA Cup replay face a tough test in the third qualifying round as they will play at home to AFC Telford United. Our potential opponents beat Corby Town 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in the previous round, and currently lie 10th in Blue Square North having won four and drawn four of their ten games. The third qualifying round takes place on Saturday 11th October, and should we progress will replace our league game at home to Heybridge Swifts. The venue for the game will be announced in due course.

Saturday 27 September - It's a Dulwich replay

Hendon face a replay against Dulwich Hamlet on Wednesday evening after they failed to overcome a side that had 10 men for 48 minutes today. However, in the first half Hendon played much better than in recent weeks and deservedly took the lead in the 23rd minute when a corner was only half cleared and Rakatahr Hudson rifled the ball home from 20 yards into the roof of the net. The Greens then grew in confidence and were boosted further in the 42nd minute when Mohamed Coly was sent off for a second caution.

There was controversy in the 53rd minute when Jamie Lunan parried the ball into the path of Dave Diedhiou who knocked the ball over the line. However, the referee ruled that the ball had been kicked out of Lunan's hands. Dulwich then came back into the game with two quick goals in the 67th and 69th minutes. Firstly Gary Noel scored from an acute angle, and then Marc Cumberbatch scored from close range. Hendon battled and in the 78th minute equalised with Harry Hunt sent in a low shot that hit the post and rolled over the line.

The replay will take place at Harrow Borough's ground on Wednesday evening, kicking off at 7.45pm.

Saturday 27 September - Supporters defeated

Our Supporters team played their first game of the season and despite losing 3-2 to Dulwich Hamlet, put in a very creditable performance that manager Eddie Edwards was very pleased with. It was a ropey start however and inside 15 minutes the Greens were 3-0 down. However, they got themselves back into the game, although the first goal didn't come until early in the second half when Nick McMullen finished well after being set up by Jake Osborn. The second came with around 15 minutes to go courtesy of a player that was loaned to the Greens from Dulwich. The best chances for an equaliser fell to Leo Gerald, but the Dulwich keeper made a great save.

Squad : Ritvars, Jake Osborn, Jakub Folcik, Steve Rogers, Paul McGreal, Andrew Vincent, Dai Cooper, Ashley Lawrence, Phil Rogers, Nick McMullen, Michelle Vincent, Leo Gerald, Liam Coogan-Jobes and the loanee from Dulwich.

Saturday 27 September - Glenn and Michael sign on

Ahead of today's FA Cup tie, Gary McCann secured the signatures of Glenn Garner and Michael Roche. Glenn is a 23 year old who can play in midfield or up front, and made his debut for us back in February at Leyton in the London Senior Cup. He has been playing as an over age player in our U21 side scoring plenty of goals. Michael is a 17 year old striker who has come through our youth set up and is a regular in our U21 side, keeping Glenn company at the top of the goalscoring charts.

Club secretary Graham Etchell is now busy working to make arrangements for venues for home games for the rest of the season. Details will be announced in due course.

Friday 26 September - PRESS RELEASE

The Board of the Ryman League has been working with Hendon Football Club Limited and representatives of the Hendon FC Supporters Trust over the last two months to enable a continuation of the Club.

The Board was disappointed this week to receive a letter from a Director of the Company closing the ground with immediate effect and explaining the reasons behind the decision.

The Company wishes to transfer its membership of the League to the Supporters Trust but the League is not able to deal with that until the Company has satisfied The Football Association and the League itself in relation to the transfer of membership. The Board wishes to enable the Club to continue to play football while negotiations are ongoing; to that end the Board will allow Hendon FC Limited to play its home matches on suitable alternative grounds until the end of the current season.

The League requires the Company to deposit with the League within 7 days a sum of £10,000 as a bond to be held against any indebtedness of the Company to the League.

The League will charge the Company under League Rule for failing to keep its ground in good playing condition and amenities in good working order throughout the Playing Season.

The Board expect the Company to resolve the transfer of membership by the end of the current season; otherwise the Company's continuing membership of the League may be in doubt.

Tuesday 23 September - Defeat at Staines

It was another miserable evening for Hendon as they lost 2-0 at Staines Town. After a bright start, the game was lost in the space of 10 first half minutes. Firstly a defensive error let in Richard Butler to give the Swans the lead on the half hour mark, and then ten minutes later Kevin Maclaren was sent off for violent conduct when he retaliated to a challenge from Lewis Cook. This left the Greens chasing the game with a man down, and despite their best efforts they were caught on the break in the 75th minute when Butler scored his second. Hendon's best chance fell to Kayan Kalipha, but his header from a James Burgess cross flew narrowly wide of the goal.

However, it was better news for the under 18's who beat Pitshanger 8-3 with Leon Benjamin leading the way with 4 goals. The under 15s were without a game as their opponents were in county cup action.

Saturday 20 September - Hendon are stoned out of luck

Hendon's miserable run of league results continued this afternoon with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Wealdstone. As has so often been the case this season, errors were punished by the opposition, whereas last season the Greens were getting away with it and in turn punishing the opposition. The first goal came in the 14th minute when Mark Boyce scored following a poor clearance, Ryan Ashe doubled the lead in the 50th minute, and then an own goal from Mark Leach, which by all accounts was a very unfortunate deflection put the Stones 3-0 ahead, a lead that they held onto until the 78th when Dave Diedhiou scored a consolation. Stephen Hughes then cancelled that Diedhiou goal out to restore the 3 goal lead in stoppage time.

Saturday 13 September - Greens make hard work of it

Despite being 4-0 ahead after an hour, Hendon then made hard work of securing progression to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup eventually beating Royston Town 4-2. Charlie Mapes put the Greens ahead after 13 minutes, and doubled the lead with a fine free-kick after 37 minutes before Lubo Guentchev made it 3-0 two minutes later. Jamie Busby scored the fourth in the 54th minute, but ten minutes later Royston pulled a goal back thanks to a Marc Leach own goal. Luke Robins scored the goal of the game, beating a number of Hendon players in the process, five minutes later. Busby was sent off with two minutes to go for a very nasty looking challenge on Lewis Endacott, who in turn had to leave the play due to his injury. The Greens managed to hold on for the win with both sides playing with 10 men as Royston had made all three substitutions before Endacott's injury. The draw for the next round will be made on Monday and announced by the FA around 1pm.

Tuesday 09 September - Winless run continues

Hendon's run of league games without a win now numbers 7 following their 2-0 defeat at home to Dover Athletic this evening. After a first half where Hendon once again failed to take their chances, Dover delivered the ultimate punishment by taking the lead on the stroke of half-time through Shaun Welford. Five minutes into the second half Frannie Collin doubled the lead and from there onwards there was only one side likely to win the game.

Saturday 06 September - Point gained at windy Canvey

Hendon ended their run of defeats with a 1-1 draw at a very windy Canvey Island. The home side were the better team in the first half with the wind at their backs and they took the lead in the 13th minute through Jay Curran. Hendon responded well in the second half and equalised in the 56th minute when James Bent converted a spot kick after Lubo Guentchev had been brought down in the area by Ricky Wiseman, the Canvey keeper. Wiseman was sent off and an outfield player was sacrificed by the Islanders to bring veteran keeper Mel Capleton on.

Tuesday 02 September - Greens need a bit of luck

Hendon went down to their fourth consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of Billericay Town. The only goal of the game came in the 8th minute when Bradley Wood-Garness fired a fierce shot from 25 yards which, despite Joe Welch getting his hands to it, slipped beyond his grasp and into the net. Billericay had the better of the first half, but Hendon came out all guns blazing but were unable to find a way back into the game. They found Billericay keeper Jack Buckfield in fine form, along with his defenders. Hendon's best chance fell to Lubomir Guentchev who saw his shot smothered by Buckfield after he'd broken into the 18 yard box. The Greens go into the weekend game at Canvey Island knowing that they just need to keep plugging away and that their luck will change, hopefully sooner rather than later.
