Thursday 25 May - Mrs Hogan passes away

It is with much sadness that the club announces today the passing away overnight of Alice Hogan, the mother of Supporters Association chairman Mike Hogan. Known to most Hendon supporters as Mrs Hogan, she has been a long time supporter of the club and spent many years working in the snack bar. She was also an honourary life member of the club, an award given to her by former chairman Victor Green for services to the club.

Everyone connected with the club sends their deepest sympathies to Mike, his brother and their family.

Saturday 20 May - Hogan wins Chairmans Award

The annual Chairmans Award has been given to Mike Hogan, the chairman of our Supporters Association. The decision was made by Dave Bedford and Graham Etchell, and it is a deserved reward for all the work Mike does around the club. He has been on the Association committee for over 40 years, but as well as that he does an awful lot of work behind the scenes that goes unseen by our supporters. Many congratulations go to Mike for his award from everyone involved at the club.

Saturday 20 May - Final youth and reserve round up

The Capital League season has now ended, and the Greens have finished in a respectable 5th place after an improved run of results in the latter part of the season. Danny Edwards and Adilson Lopes have both progressed from the reserves to make appearances in the first team, whilst six others will be training with the first team next season. As mentioned earlier in the week, we won't be running a reserve side next season so that all the resources can be concentrated on the first team.

The under 18/'A' Team had to unfortunately forfeit their final three fixtures following the departure of manager Mark Crawford as due to holidays we were unable to field a side. Again, purely to help concentrate resources on the first team, we won't have an under 18 side next season, but the club is intending to relaunch the reserves and under 18s in the future. The 'A' team have finished in midtable in their table.

The under 15s had their first season together this term, and have done exceptionally well after a difficult start under the leadership of Eamon Finn and Graeme Bourne. They have finished 5th in the table and look set to push on for honours next season as an under 16 side with some exciting players in their squad.

The under 13s had a very successful season, ending as champions of their division, dropping just 9 points during the season. Under the leadership of John & Michael Creith they are already looking forward to next season competing as under 14s in a higher division. Also this season they progressed to the semi-finals of the Supplementary Cup where they lost out in an excellent game to Yeading HEW.

As well as a big thank you to our managers and coaches, we would also like to thank all the parents, families and friends who have supported our youngsters this season, helping out with transport, running the line and also helping with coaching. Without their help it would make life much more difficult for our youth managers.

Next season we are hoping to add two new teams to our Sunday youth set up at under 15 and under 13 level. Any players interested in taking part should send their Football CV, detailing their football career to date and all their contact details, to the club by post or by email to

Wednesday 17 May - Player news

Gary McCann has also given out today the list of players who are staying and leaving. As well as Iain Duncan, four other players are definitely leaving the club. Blaise O'Brien has decided to move on and is expected to return to Hillingdon Borough, Charlie Mapes has returned to Yeading following the expiration of his loan period, while Jeff Campbell is returning to New Zealand where he is likely to be playing professionally.

Also departing is goalkeeper Rikki Banks who has a number of trials lined up during the summer, but also has a possibility of signing for Worthing, which is much nearer his Brighton home. We thank all the departing players for their efforts and wish them well for their futures.

Ricci Crace will be taking over the team captaincy, whilst also staying are Danny Murphy, Danny Edwards, James Parker, Adilson Lopes, Jimmy Froud, Lee O'Leary, Jamie Busby, Dave Hunt, Bradley Bubb and James Burgess. Also remaining at the club are reserve teamers Ricky Pattenden, Chad Griffiths, Conor Carroll, Francois Gabbidon, Mathew Peart and Maradona Mason.

A number of players have yet to make a decision on their playing future and are considering the offers made to them. These players include Dave King, Mark Cooper, Marc Leach, Andy Cook, Ross Pickett, Rene Street and Byron Bubb.

Gary confirmed that he is working to a much tighter budget than last season but his aim is to build a young, committed, energetic and physically strong side.

Wednesday 17 May - No reserves next season

Due to the reduced budget this season, the club have reluctantly decided that there won't be a reserve team or under 18 team this season so that the resources available can be concentrated on the first team. It is hoped that once the club is back on a stable footing that both teams will be revived.

The game remained level with both keepers making good saves until the final minute when Yeading managed to score the winner. Thursday 04 May - Gary to stay on as manager

The club are delighted to announce this afternoon that Gary McCann has agreed to continue as first team manager for the 2006-07 season following a meeting with club officials earlier this week.

Speaking to Greensnet this afternoon Gary said "Next season is going to be difficult for everyone at the club, but we are committed to working towards stablising the playing side of the club. As difficult as it will be to assemble a young successfull challengeing side next year, I totally appreciate the more difficult position we are in off the pitch that has resulted the cost cutting needed on playing budget but I am confident that the club is in very good hands.

"I can't say enough about the fantastic support we've received from our club officials and supporters in what has been a very trying season both on and off the field. Monday 01 May - Youth team update

Many apologies for the delay in youth and reserve updates. Starting with the under 18s, two weekends ago they had a double header against Spelthorne Sports Reserves. The first game saw the Greens win 1-0 thanks to a Ronald Adjekwei goal but they lost 3-0 in the second game. Last Saturday they had a great 2-1 win over CB Hounslow Reserves with a brace of goals from Marcel Byfield. Their next game is on Tuesday evening when they travel to CB Hounslow Reserves once again in a game that kicks off at 6.30pm at Osterley Sports Club, Tentelow Lane, Osterley.

Moving on to the under 15s they slipped out of the supplementary cup two weekends ago, losing 7-2 to a very good London Tigers side. The Greens goals cmae from David Paice and Mike Baende. However, the under 13s are still in their supplementary cup, having now reached the semi final stage following two wins over the past couple of weeks. Firstly they saw off Harrow St Mary's 4-2 with a Nassir Elmi hat-trick and a goal from Tony Teegan, whilst yesterday they ran out 4-3 winners in a great game at North Greenford United, with another Elmi hat-trick and a strike from Dean Rosenthal. Their semi final opponents will be confirmed during the week. Elmi's two hat-tricks take his goal tally for the season so far to 47 in 23 appearances.
