At the Avenue Ground, Child's Hill, Hampstead Town's second string were outplayed by Tufnell Park in a Middlesex Charity Cup tie, suffering defeat by 5 goals to 1. The home side were lacking in combination, which is not surprising in view of the fact that they were organized only two weeks since. A not uninteresting game was witnessed by a large crowd, and County charities will benefit considerably as a result. Although 3 goals down at the interval, Hampstead played a plucky game and were seen to greater advantage in the second period, H. Kirton scoring a clever goal for them. W.G. Darvill (captain) played well at centre half, T.B. Poltock also alternately in attack and defence, and Willmott (right back), Francis and Curner (halves), Bruder, Eastgate, and Sharpe (forwards), are all promising players. Hampstead intend to persevere with this reserve side with the idea of buiding up a strong combination for entry in important competitions next season, thus ensuring for the locality an interesting game on the home ground every weekend.
