Match Report

Although the Town were beaten by 4 goals to 1 by Enfield last Saturday in the Divisional Final of the Football Association Amateur Cup they created a favourable impression on the large crowd present.

The score undoubtedly flattered the winners, and an odd goal victory would have better represented the run of the gplay.

The game was contested throughout at a great pace, and half-time arrived with Enfield leading by 3 goals to 0, the best of these being scored by Thurman, who is well known locally, and who has completed in many representative games for his county.

Shortly after resuming the Town reduced the lead as the result of some good work by O James on the left wing, G Marchant scoring.

Towards the close Enfield increased their advantage, Matthews saved several good shots, but was certainly at fault on two occasions. Guy Watson kept an excellent goal for Enfield.
