The Town continued to progress in the London Senior Cup, defeating Sutton Court last Saturday at the Avenue Ground by 3 goals to 0, a good sporting game being witnessed by a crowd of over 1000.
The teams were well matched and the exchanges equal throughout, the excellence of the Town defence alone preventing their opponents from scoring on several occasions.
Some clever movements were initiated by the Town forwards and eventually Humphreys unselfishly placed Tomkins in a perfect position for scoring, the latter making no mistake with his shot. Immediately before the interval Sutton Court had a certain chance of equalising, but their inside-left, F Perkins, with the goal at his mercy, shot wide.
Shortly after resuming G Marchant increased the lead with a rasping shot, and a further goal accrued to the Town from extreme pressure on the opposing defence, who rendered some assistance in finding the net on this occasion.
Sutton Court's noted right back E Brooker, played his usual sound game, and their left winger P Kingsford, the Olympic long jumper, made some electrifying dashes on the few occasions when he got clear of the Town's hard-working and popular right-half A Parker.
