Waltham were well beaten 5 goals to 1 at the Avenue Ground, Cricklewood-Iane, last Saturday, and this victory places the Town in a very commanding position at the head of the Middlesex League. A large crowd witnessed a game which was somewhat spoilt by the bad condition of the ground owing to the wet weather. Four goals for the Town were scored in quick succession by H. J. Pennifer (2) O. Sumner, and G. T. Marchant. Hereabouts Waltham scored their single point, which livened the game up somewhat. In the second half the game was more even, but Matthews in the Town goal was very safe. G. Garlick added to Hampstead’s score with a splendid shot, and the game ended as stated.
