Hampstead have every reason to be satisfied with the result of their visit to Ilford in the London League on Saturday. Both teams are in the running for the championship, and in winning by 4 goals to 1 the Town increased their prospects.
Hampstead's superiority was most marked, and Ilford have to thank their noted goalkeeper, Evans, who, by a superb display, kept the score at a reasonable figure.
The outstanding player on the Town's side was G Marchant, who at inside right, scored three magnificent goals and was responsible for many other fine attempts.
The defence was also very satisfactory, and H Ashman gave a polished display at centre-half. O Sumner scored the Town's fourth goal. On present form the Town's chances in the London League, as in the Middlesex League, are very bright.
