Hampstead Town wound up a most successful season by visiting and drawing [2-2] with Kingstonians F.C. on Saturday in the final Athenian League match. But for an early accident, which incapacitated their goalkeeper for the rest of the game, Hampstead would have won comfortably, and they led at the interval by a goal scored by A.E. Mallett from a penalty kick. Hampstead's ten men played pluckily and well, but could not prevent their opponents scoring twice, F.L. Burrage being responible for the Town's second goal. After the match the Hampstead party dined at the Kingston Hotel, and the great success of the season just concluded was referred to in brief and happy speeches by officials, players, and supporters.
The home games at the Avenue Ground, Child's Hill, have been attended by very large crowds, aggregating over 30,000 for the season [27 matches - 11 league, 10 cup, and 6 friendly], and the club has augmented its reputation by the fine show made in the Cup competitions, and in its first season in the Athenian League. Only two amateur clubs have lowered the Town's colours, by narrow margins, on the home pitch, i.e. Barnet in the Athenian League, and Chesham United in the Divisional Final of the Amateur Cup. Two senior teams will be run next season, one in the Athenian League and one, probably, in the London League. All the Cups have been entered for, and with plenty of the right talent available, future prospects are exceedingly bright. The annual general meeting will be held some time in June.
