Match Report

Hampstead Town opened the season last Saturday with a visit to their old friends and rivals, Wimbledon, in a friendly encounter, and won a fast and interesting game by 3 goals to 2. The first goal was scored in admirable style by H.E.J. Miller, who now partners A.E. Mallett on the right wing; L.J. Price, a new chum and a brilliant left winger, notched the second; and F.L. Burrage, playing in his best form, put on the winning goal after Wimbledon had drawn level. Hampstead have some remarkably good new talent, with the best of the old, and their attack will be led by G.F. Blackburn, who is maintaining his amateur status this season.
The opening match at the Avenue ground, Child’s-hill, will be played tomorrow (Saturday), when the London League team will oppose West Norwood “A”. The Athenian League team will visit Bromley.
Visitors to the ground will be interested in the improvements made during the close season, and the Child’s Hill Silver Prize Band will entertain spectators every Saturday before the match and during the interval. Kick off 3.30.
