With a re-arranged team, necessitated by recent injuries to prominent players, and with the further handicap of the enforced retirement of their left back within ten minutes of the start, Hampstead [Town] lost their London Senior Cup tie with Barnet by 2 goals to 0. Notwithstanding the inclement conditions, Barnet registered their record gate of the season. They have two remarkably fine wing forwards in M.J. Lawson and E. Pett, the latter scoring both the goals in quick succession and brilliant style. A twisted ankle robbed Hampstead of their stalwart defender, H.H. Allwright, and yet, with only ten men in opposition, Barnet had to work hard to maintain their lead. L.G. Mellish, in goal, and S. Dunstone, at back, both worked valiantly for Hampstead, and effectually checkmated all further efforts by the Barnet forwards. Keen rivalry exists between the clubs, and Hampstead are now thirsting for revenge for this unneighbourly, but by no means unfriendly, treatment for the second time this season.
The newly-formed Hampstead [Town] " A " team made an auspicious start at the Avenue Ground, Child's Hill, where they defeated Ilford " A " by 5 goals to 3. They will again be on view at the local ground tomorrow (Saturday) in a first class match. The first team visit Summerstown in an Athenian League encounter.
