[The report on this match starts with the THIRD paragraph of the article headed "HAMPSTEAD TOWN v GNOME"]
Last Saturday at the Avenue Ground, Child's Hill, a large crowd witnessed a splendid encounter, worthy in every respect of the high standard set by the Athenian League, between Hampstead [Town] and Summerstown, resulting in a win for the home club by 3 goals to 1. The Town were not at full strength, several players resting after their strenuous cup-tie efforts; the visitors also were without the services of two of their regular first team men. An evenly-contested first half closed without a goal being scored, although both teams missed chances. Twenty minutes after the restart G.F. Blackburn opened Hampstead's account with a well-earned goal. Twice again Hampstead scored, through F.L. Burrage and G.F. Blackburn, the latter from a grand shot at thirty yards range, before Summerstown responded through F.H. Moss, who played a capital game at centre-forward for the visitors.
Tomorrow (Saturday), for the first time this season, there will be no game at the Avenue Ground, Chelmsford F.C. being visited in the Athenian League. The team travel by 1 3 p.m. [??] train from Liverpool Street Station. On December 13th Tufnell Park may be seen at the Avenue Ground in the Middlesex Charity Cup, and Athenian League matches will be played there on Dec. 20th v Wimbledon, Dec 26th v Southall, and Dec. 27th v Cheshunt.
