Although lacking the services of four of their prominent players, all resting with minor injuries, Hampxtead [Town] registered their sixth successive cup-tie victory, and passed into the Divisional Final of the Amateur Cup at the expense of Napier F.C. by 4 goals to 1. G.F. Blackburn, who made a welcome re-appearance in the Hampstead front line, scored a fine opening goal from Croal's centre. Subsequently the latter made a fine individual effort, which rebounded from the upright and was returned into the net with a vigorous shot by W. Little, who, later in the game, scored another good goal. J.P. Croal was responsible for Hampstead's fourth, and O. Parker scored for the losers. Napier, who played a good sporting game, were well served in goal by C. Brooks, and at inside right by H. Kirton.
Denis R. Bullough, G.H. Garlick, W. Bush, and J. H. Parker were notable absentees from the Hampstead side, but their positions were all filled with great credit, J. Fearn, the club's utility man, operating at right half. J. P. Croal, a newcomer with fine credentials, gave a meritorious display on the left wing, and has yet to show his true form in his correct position of centre or inside right.
Hampstead also gave a trial spin to F. L. Burrage, a famous South African soccer player now resident in this district, and his clever footwork and deft passes, of the Corinthian character, met with general approbation. He has represented South Africa in many important matches, has been capped a number of times for the Transvaal, and he will undoubtedly prove an acquisition to the Hampstead team.
G.F. Blackburn, a local player of great promise, who secured his introduction to Senior amateur football through the Town, is a fine bustler, and H.H. Allwright, Hampstead's popular left back, is proving a tower of strength, his tackling and kicking being faultless.
In the Divisional final Hampstead Town have again choice of ground, their opponents being Chesham United.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Hampstead will be subjected to a real test in the Divisional inal of the English Cup, the famous Wycombe Wanderers being entertained at the Avenue ground, Child's Hill. The kick off is timed for 2.30, an early start being necessary in case extra time should be required. A keen and interesting game is assured, and Hampstead, in an effort to maintain and if possible enhance the reputation they have already received this season, will field their strongest eleven. The defence will comprise: H.J. Dale; S. Dunstone, H.H. Allwright; J,H, Parker, E.J. Wright, H. Woodward; and the forward line will be selected from: A.E.Mallett, W. Little, Denis R. Bullough, G.F. Blackburn, G.H. Garlick, J.P. Croal, F.L. Burrage.
