Match Report

Hampstead Town registered their fifth successive cup-tie victory on Saturday by defeating Windsor and Eton F.C. in the second round [report wrongly says third round] of the English Cup by 3 goals to 0. The greatest interest and enthusiasm is being displayed in the locality in the doings of the Club, and this well-deserved win was witnessed by a record crowd at the Child's Hill enclosure.

Always renowned for fielding a good eleven, Hampstead at the present time have probably the strongest and best balanced side in the history of the club. Further and remarkably promising talent is available and supporters will shortly have the opportunity of seeing a famous South African footballer, now resident here, assisting the club .

Hampstead Town have had an unprecedented run of luck in cup tie draws. In the third round qualifying competition for the F.A. Cup they have again choice of ground, their opponents being either Wycombe Wanderers or Slough.

Windsor and Eton had the opening advantage of a strong wind which operated against good football; notwithstanding this handicap, Hampstead quickly opened the score, E.J. Wright heading in a splendid corner kick by G.H. Garlick. The visitors failed to respond although several chances accrued. Hampstead's second goal was the best of the trio, A.E. Mallett, at outside-right, cleverly beating four opponents and finally finding the net with a well-judged shot. E.J. Wright scored again later with a low and powerful drive from good range. Windsor continued to make capital efforts, but were frustrated by the Town's sound defence. The Town's stalwart Parker operated with huis usual ability at right-half; S. Dunstone is fulfilling expectations with his displays at back, and H.J. Dale is proving a goalkeeper of merit.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the third round of the Amateur Cup will be contested at the Avenue ground, Child's Hill, Hampstead's probable team being:- H.J. Dale; S. Dunstone, H.H. Allwright; J.H. Parker, E.J. Wright, H. Woodward; A.E. Mallett, W.C. Little, F. Burrage, J.P. Croal, G.H. Garlick. Kick-off 2.45.
