Match Report

Hampstead Town registered their fourth successive win by defeating Marlow in the English Cup at Avenue ground, Child's Hill, last Saturday by 4 goals to 1. Hampstead are now fielding a very strong combination, and their success [is] attracting increasingly large and enthusiastic crowds to their conveniently-situated and well-arranged enclosure. G.H. Garlick, the Town's popular left-winger, is playing so well that his inclusion in the England v. Ireland Amateur International match on November 15th is said to be receiving the consideration of the Selection Committee.

Marlow commenced in sensational style, W.C. White scoring a good goal for them within two minutes of the start. With this substantial eye-opener the Hampstead players got going and ten minutes later had secured a goal lead, D.R. Bullough and E.J. Wright being the marksmen. F. Gill, of burly physique, who played a grand game in goal for the visitors, repelled all further attempts to score until well on in the second period, when the Town forged ahead with points notched by D.R. Bullough and W. Little. A.E. Mallett, the erstwhile Schoolboy International, played on the Hampstead right wing with conspicuous ability.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Botwell Mission F.C. visit the Avenue ground in the second round of the Amateur Cup, and although their name is somewhat unfamiliar in senior circles they are a remarkably sound and clever side, having registered good victories this season over well-known and strong amateur teams. Hampstead anticipate an exceedingly close encounter, and will field their strongest possible eleven. The team to represent the Town will probably comprise:- H.J. Dale; S. Dunstone, H.H. Allwright; J.H. Parker, E.J. Wright, H. Woodward; A.E. Mallett, W. Little, D.R. Bullough, W. Bush, G.H. Garlick.

Good fortune has again favoured Hampstead in the draw for the English Cup. At the ballot on Monday they came out first and will entertain Windsor and Eton F.C. (who defeated Handley Page last Saturday) in the Divisional semi-final at the Avenue ground on Saturday, October 25th.
