Hampstead Town successfully negotiated their Amateur Cup tie with Sutton Court last Saturday at the Avenue Ground, Child's Hill, winning comfortably by three goals to one. Their opponents, a typical "Old Boys" team, gave a good display, many of their efforts winning the applause of the large crowd present, and as it was their fist match of the season, indeed their first since 1914, considerable credit reflects upon them. Their goal was scored in the concluding stages of the game by E.E. Allen.
Denis R. Bullough made a welcome re-appearance in the Hampstead front line, scoring a couple of goals and giving indications of his ability as leader of the attack with promise of bigger things as the season progresses. Several of Hampstead's strong men were unavoidably absent, but W. Little, a recent introduction at inside-right, gave another good display and scored an excellent goal from a perfect centre by G.H. Garlick, whose form on the left wing throughout the match was of a brilliant character. The Hampstead defence is now well established and entirely satisfactory.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Marlow visit the Avenue ground in the English Cup, and a good game is assured. In this important encounter Hampstead will probably be represented by H.J. Dale; S. Dunstone, H.H. Allwright; J.H. Parker, E.J. Wright, H. Woodward; A.E. Mallett, W. Little, D.R. Bullough, W. Bush, G.H. Garlick.
