Hampstead [Town] broke their sequence of losses by scoring a good win over Summerstown in the Athenian League by three goals to two, this being a particularly good performance away from home, and four league points have thus been garnered at Summerstown's expense.
An easy victory appeared likely when Hampstead secured a two goals lead through F. Young, who played well at inside right. Up to this period the exchanges were fairly even, and both Evans, in the Hampstead goal, and the home custodian had made splendid saves.
Following their reverses Summerstown played with such tremendous dash that they broke through the Hampstead defence twice and in quick succession. They could not maintain the pace, however, and with only ten minutes to go Travers Day gave Hampstead the victory with a fine long drive.
This success is encouraging and is likely to lead to better things, and it will certainly give the Hampstead team a fillip for their forthcoming Amateur Cup-tie with Gray's Athletic on the latter's ground.
