Hampstead Town thoroughly deserved their win over Kingstonians by two goals to one in the Athenian League at Cricklewood-lane on Saturday. The visitors, who have a very fine record this season, came to the Avenue ground with the moral advantage of a sequence of ten successes in League and Cup games, but Hampstead's new and greatly-strengthened team made light of this and were on top throughout the game.
Thirty minutes from the start Travers Day scored a great goal from a fine pass by F. Young. Kingstonians equalised from a penalty shortly after the interval, but again good work by Young resulted in Travers Day netting. Warner, in the visitors' goal, saved luckily twice afterwards, and McCracken proved a safe custodian for Hampstead, and did a lot of good work.
Hampstead's determined effort in team re-construction, a difficult and unenviable task midway through a season, but rendered imperative by poor displays in important cup and League games, is already bearing good fruit, and further successes are likely to ensue. In addition to displaying good combination, the new eleven play with dash and vigour to the end, irrespective of the state of the score sheet. There has been no lack of support from local enthusiasts through the trying period of team building, thus confirming the reputation achieved by the club of enjoying the patronage of one of the most sporting crowds in the metropolis.
