Hampstead [Town] garnered two useful Athenian League points from their visit to Sutton, where they won a strenuous match by four goals to one. Although thoroughly deserving their success, the big score was somewhat flattering to Hampstead, who, however, put up a greatly improved display.
The outstanding feature of the game was the fine shooting by Travers Day, who gave the home goalkeeper a warm time, and with first time shots from accurate passes scored three of the goals. They led by this margin to within five minutes of the end, when Sutton scored, but just before the final whistle Young put on another for Hampstead.
W.C. Little, who played for Hampstead two seasons ago, has now returned, and operated well at right-half. This enabled A. Butcher to take the right wing position, where he played splendidly, centreing accurately throughout the game. J. Humphries also played in improving style at right back, and the general performance of the team gave promise of better things in the future.
Precisely the same team has been selected to represent Hampstead in their home Athenian League game tomorrow (Saturday) v. Kingstonians. Kick off 2.45.
