Redhill started their [Easter] holiday programme fairly auspiciously by getting a point from Golders Green on Wednesday evening last week, in one of the fastest games seen at the Sports Ground for some time. A draw was a fair reflex of the game, although the manner of the Green's equalising goal was distinctly lucky in that it followed a free-kick - given in the best Athenian tradition - for hands after the ball struck a player's arm in flight.

It was an unusually mixed side that represented Redhill, and a strangely forceful forward line with any amount of punch in it. Thorlby, from Horsham, playing his first game for the Reds showed himself a resourceful forward and scored two fine goals. Lister also played a great game. Parish, although a hard worker, was not blessed with much luck, and his crowning stroke of bad luck was in the last minute of the game, when he was badly injured and had to be taken to hospital with a cut head.

Hill and Saggers were the strength of the intermediate line, Hobson being very lax in his marking of the opposition. Both he and Rhodes gave Drinkwater far too much rope.

Golders Green, kicking towards the south goal, took the lead in ten minutes when BROADIS netted from a fine round of passing. The equaliser came after 35 minutes, THORLBY sending in a twisting shot which Boston helped into the net, although it seemed fairly certain to have gone in without his help. Five minutes later Redhill took the lead as a result of one of the neatest movements seen among the Redhill forwards for some time. Parish received from the half-backs and pushed the ball out to the left wing. Lister swung it right across to Spalton, who promptly backheeled to THORLBY, who beat Miles with a low swift drive.

On the restart, Golders Green went all out for the equaliser, and FALLON converted a perfect centre from Drinkwater. A fine cross shot by SPALTON, who polished off a good movement between Thorlby, Parish, and Lister, restored the lead, but when the Green were awarded the free kick referred to Broadis placed it for DRINKWATER, who was absolutely unmarked, to equalise with a fine goal.
