After 15 minutes of even play, Gallacher fell unconscious and was removed on a stretcher. During his absence, Heathcote opened Wealdstone's score. The visitors led 1-0 at half time.
Gallacher resumed after the interval. Within three minutes a score by Avis brought the scores level. Gaze gave Wealdstone the lead again after 20 minutes, and five minutes later Griffiths was brought down in the penalty area. A. King scored from the spot.
At this stage A. King was badly fouled by Garrigan, and was carried from the field, the crowd voicing its feelings in no uncertain manner. He restarted before the end, at outside left, but limped. Two minutes before the end, Gallacher handled in the penalty area, and Barker converted the spot kick for the winning goal.
It was a hard fought game, with Wealdstone playing fast, accurate football, but the Green's wing halves were weak, throwing much of the work on Fisher, A. King and Topp, and starving the forwards of passes.
[ Wealdston's line-up from the Harrow Observer, 03/01/1946, p.6 - their report on this match does not give the line-up, but states that Heathcote for Williams was the only change. ]
