Heaviest defeat came on Saturday when with a side depleted by injuries to six players the Green faced Tooting and Mitcham, and after 20 minutes F. Williams had to leave the field, and limped on resuming. After ten minutes of even play a defensive error let Matthews through. Roberts, who played a grand game in goal, and saved the Green from heavier defeat, could only deflect the shot. The ball went to Parker, who opened Tooting's account. Within a minute Hellard broke through on the right and crossed the ball for Parker to put his side two up.

The Green held out for half an hour, but only strong kicking by Maloney, superhuman efforts by Topp and fine keeping by Roberts kept the home side's strong and skilful attack at bay. Then, with Williams off the field, Tooting gained a corner; the kick was partially cleared, but the ball ultimately reached Walker, who scored with a rasping drive. Five minutes later the same player made it four, converting a centre by Matthews.

Just before the interval, Tooting were awarded a penalty, bu Walker shot wide.

After the interval, the Green's forward line was White, Stroud, Griffiths, Cochrane and Williams, with King and Avis the wing halves. In five minutes Parker got clean through and scored the home side's fifth, while five minutes later the centre forard fastened on to a rebound from Matthews' shot and notched the sixth.

The Green then appeared to rally, but were never a strong attacking force. Williams could hardly move, and the Green's forward line had little or no sting. Hawkins was called upon by Stroud and Avis, while at the other end Hellard hit the post and the ball rebounded into play for a clearance down the field.

Five minutes before the end, Avis got away on the left, and went through on his ownbto score the Green's solitary goal.
