On Thursday, the Greens travelled to Chalfont St Peter and a disappointing game ended in a goalless draw. The undoubted stars of the night were the two goalkeepers, who pulled off a number of excellent saves.
Michael Power-Simpson and Anthony O'Connor are likely to be second-choice at both Saints and Greens, respectively, but they did their cases for a first-team football a power of good. O'Connor produced a magnificent block to keep out an effort from Barry Brosnan after 32 minutes, while Power-Simpson denied both Danny Edwards and Leon Maloney in the few minutes before half time.
In addition, both teams squandered some excellent openings and ruined other good positions by straying offside - or at least being judged so by the assistant referees.
Chalfont hit the woodwork twice in the second half, which grew scrappier and scrappier as it progressed, but Hendon also had chances. The best fell to Ronald Adjekwei, who was in the Under-18s side last season. He did exceptionally well to forge the first opening but miskicked with the goal at his mercy.
Then, in the final minute, he carved open the Chalfont defence, had only Power-Simpson to beat, but made a complete hash of the shot, sending high and not very handsome into the Buckinghamshire night.
