Saturday 31 March - Ten man Hendon defeated

Hendon lost 2-0 at Ashford Town (Middlesex), with their task being made all the more difficult when Dean Green was sent off in the first minute for alleged violent conduct. In fact, all Green had done was to push an Ashford player off his foot after the Ashford man had inadvertently stepped on Greens' foot. Ashford were in control throughout the game, and made their extra man count taking the lead in the 7th minute through Ricky Wellard. Former Hendon midfielder Paul Johnson doubled the lead shortly before half-time. It must be said that the ten men of Hendon worked really hard to try and get back into the game but it wasn't to be. A day to forget.

Tuesday 27 March - Fine win at Staines

Hendon put in one of the best performances of the season this evening as they won 3-1 at Staines Town. Despite going down to a 7th minute goal scored by Ali Chaaban, the Greens caused the Staines defence plenty of problems all evening and created numerous chances. Hendon equalised in the 19th minute when Darragh Duffy scred and then took the lead in the 34th minute when captain James Parker rose high above the Staines defence to fire the ball into the net, his first goal for the club. The lead was extended further on the stroke of half-time courtesy of Belal Aiteouakrim.

The Greens continued to create chances in the second half with Staines keeper forced to make fine saves on at least three occasions, whilst Richard Wilmot was only called into serious action on two occasions. The result moves the Greens up to a season high of 15th in the league table, whilst Slough Town were relegated this evening.

Monday 26 March - Under 15s awarded three points

The under 15s have been awarded three more points towards their title bid. This is because their recent game against Acton Ealing Whistlers was postponed as Acton were unable to field a side. As a result, the game has been awarded to our under 15s. This now means that they only require 9 points to secure their championship. They travel to Sandgate, the only team that can catch them, on Sunday afternoon.

Monday 26 March - Youth team round up

Just one of our youth teams was in league action yesterday, and it was bad news for the under 13s as they lost ground at the top of the table by going down 3-0 at Actual Soccer. The under 16s were knocked out of the league cup by Brunswick, who are three divisions higher, losing 8-2. Charlie Benson and Michael Roache were on target. To add to their misery, they were knocked off the top of the table by Princes Park, who now lead by two points with both sides having two games left to play.

It was better news for the under 14s who won 5-1 at Pitshanger B in the league cup. Damilola Thomas and Nassir Elmi both scored twice, whilst man of the match Patrick Crinnigan scored the fifth. However, they were also knocked off the top of the table, this time by Greenford Celtic. The West London side have yet to drop a point in the league this season. The two clubs meet next Sunday at Copthall Playing Fields in a double header that may well turn out to be a title decider.

Sunday 25 March - Under 16 manager to undergo surgery

A couple of weeks ago Graeme Bourne, one of our highly respected Under 16 co-managers, was involved in a freak accident and was rushed to hospital. The accident left him paralysed. Thankfully the paralysis was temporary and over the past few weeks Graeme has got virtually all feeling back and is now able to walk unaided. However, the medical people were not able to operate as originally planned but we are told that such is his improvement he will now undergo surgery at the Royal Neurology Hospital tomorrow. Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Graeme for a speedy recovery.

Saturday 24 March - Lacklustre performance costs Hendon

Despite going a goal ahead in the 15th minute courtesy of a fine Dean Green strike, a lacklustre performance from Hendon meant that they went down to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Boreham Wood. The scorer of both Wood goals was Byron Harrison, both headers, in the 30th and 45th minutes. Hendon's best chance of an equaliser fell to Takumi Ake late on but his shot from a tight angle could only find the post.

Tuesday 20 March - O'Leary decides to move on

After much deliberation Lee O'Leary has decided to join AFC Wimbledon following their approach last week. Speaking to Greensnet this evening prior to training Gary McCann said that the move was one that Lee felt he couldn't really turn down and that he'd regret it if he did. It also shows what a good job he has done in midfield for us this season that the opportunity has arisen. Whilst there is no doubt that the loss of Lee's services is a blow to the club, Gary is confident that the squad will regroup and continue the run of good performances as we head into the last few weeks of the season. Lee made 51 appearances for the club, scoring 7 goals, and he goes with the good wishes from everyone at Hendon. Also, everyone would like to thank Lee for all the hard work and quality performances he has put in over the past year.

Monday 19 March - Youth team round up

The under 16's championship hopes were dealt a blow yesterday as they lost 4-3 to nearest challengers Princes Park B. Two goals from Will Mabbutt and one from Carl Ciagoro didn't prove to be enough as Princes Park scored a late winner.

The under 15's kept up their excellent season with a 7-1 victory over Lancaster Diamonds. Jordan Copeland and Geoffrey Lloyd both scored hat-tricks while Kyran McCarthy scored the other goal. However, the game was marred when defender Adam Badawi collapsed after the final whistle following a knock to the head. Paramedics were called and he was taken away to hospital. Everyone at the club wish Adam a speedy recovery and hope he's back in the green shirt soon. Also, the club would like to thank Dan and Chris from Lancaster Diamonds whose assistance when Adam collapsed was invaluable.

The other team in action were the under 14's who maintained their hold on top spot with a hard fought 2-1 win over Heathrow Club. Regular scorers Nassir Elmi and Nestor Bokuli were on target, but the team had keeper Parker Gilbert to thank for a number of excellent saves in the dying minutes of the game.
