The last of our familar opponents this season are Staines Town, who we have met 69 times in competitive action over the years since our first meeting in the Middlesex Senior Cup in January 1930. Staines have seen some change over the summer, with Matthew Boon, whose family have run the club for many years, handing control over to Fulcrum Sports Investments, who in turn have appointed Cristian Colas as manager to replace Johnson 'Drax' Hippolyte.
The club was formed in 1892, and has been known under various names including Staines, Staines Albany, Staines Vale and Staines Lagonda. They have worked their way up the leagues over the years, eventually joining the Isthmian League in 1973, winning the Division Two championship at the second attempt. They then spent many years flitting between Division One and the Premier Division, winning the Division One title in 1989, until 2009 when they were play-off winners and promoted to Conference South where they spent six seasons before relegation back to the Isthmian League.
They have reached the 2nd round of the FA Cup on two occasions, losing to Peterborough United in 2007-08, and losing in a replay to Millwall two years later.
Of course, our last meeting was in the Middlesex Senior Cup Final last season, where we ran out winners in a penalty shoot-out after a goalless draw.
