Tonight's game against Billericay Town was abandoned after 35 minutes due to thick fog with the Greens leading 2-0. It must be said that the decision to start the game was absolutely correct, but shortly after the second goal was scored, the fog thickened and the referee suspended play. He gave it 15 minutes, but there was no sign of the fog lifting and the decision was made to abandon the game following a discussion with both managers.
The 35 minutes that were played saw some of the best football the Greens have played this season. The first goal came in the 11th minute when a defence splitting ball from Matt Ball was then played by Elliott Charles into the path of Reis Stanislaus who slammed the ball into the net. The second came twenty minutes later when Arthur Lee rose at the far post to head home a cross.
However, with the match abandoned, it all counts for nothing.
Both clubs await a ruling from the Ryman League as to what happens regarding a replay, but in the meantime we ask that all those who attended retain their admission ticket, which will be able to be used to gain entry for the rearranged game.
