A number of supporters, including our Scottish supporters on twitter, have asked whether we've had two consecutive matches abandoned before - to which the answer is yes, over 70 years ago. In December 1942, we had two consecutive games abandoned in extra time, both against Pinner in the Middlesex Senior Cup.
The first attempt took place on Saturday 5th December at Claremont Road, and having reached full time at 0-0, the teams embarked on extra time. However, five minutes into extra time, the game was abandoned due to failing light.
The following week on 12th December, again at Claremont Road, the teams reached full time goalless once again. This time 20 minutes of extra time were played, but with Pinner leading 1-0, it became too dark again and the game was abandoned.
The third attempt took place on 19th December at Pinner's ground, and saw them win 3-1, with Roy Stroud scoring the goal for us.
