Gary McCann was delighted following last night's victory against Bury.
"I am really pleased with the result. The players let themselves down on Saturday and I told them so, but their reaction was nothing less than I expected. They are a very honest bunch.
"It was difficult at times because they were young and leggy. But our back four was very good as were the boys in front of them. I was very pleased with Elliott Brathwaite, who got his head on pretty much everything.
"It was not our most fluent performance of the season, and some of our decision making up front wasn't the best. I must admit it did get very edgy in the last 10 minutes because we knew how important the three points were to us. It keeps our very slim playoff hopes alive.
"After picking up just five points from our first seven games of the season, we have now collected 55 from our last 30 matches. Our next two games are going to be very important.
"Leon Smith took his goal very well. He is doing exactly what I hoped he would do when he signed for us and he is trying to improve his fitness. He was ill in the dressing room at half-time because he hadn't taken on enough fuel."
