Hendon were knocked out of the FA Trophy this afternoon by a hardworking Whitstable Town side, despite taking the lead.
The first half was goalless, but both sides had chances to take the lead. Indeed, the Greens hit the woodwork three times, and the Whitstable keeper made a number of excellent saves during the first period.
Hendon eventually took the lead in the 69th minute through Jefferson Louis, but then inexplicably let things slide, and Whitstable equalised through Laurence Harvey just two minutes later.
The Oysterman then took the game by the scruff of the neck and took the lead in the 75th minute through Charlie Smith, a lead that they were not going to give away as they then defended in numbers, and defended superbly.
So the Greens hopes of an extended FA Trophy run have been blown apart, but we wish everyone at Whitstable all the best for the next round, and hope that the draw is kind to them.
