Sunday football returns to Earlsmead once again this weekend as we entertain Whitstable Town in the first round of the FA Trophy.
This is the first time we have reached the last 64 since the 2004/05 season when we went out 4-3 at Slough Town, and it is the first time that Whitstable have reached this stage of the competition. It is also the first time that we have met the Oystermen.
Both sides are coming into the game in good form. Whilst we have lost just 1 game out of the last 8 in all competitions, Whitstable have lost just once in their last 10 games, and their run includes the FA Trophy win at Carshalton Athletic, and a Kent Senior Cup win over Maidstone United.
In their most recent game, they won 3-1 at home to Corinthian-Casuals with Ashley Baverstock, Craig Thompson and Joe Kane on target. That result has left the Oystermen in 17th place in Ryman League Division One South.
Gary McCann and the squad will know that they will need to be in the right frame of mind on Sunday to ensure that there are no slip ups. As always, your support will be crucial, so we hope to see as many of you as possible at the game on Sunday afternoon.
Kick off at Earlsmead is at 3.00pm, and our usual admission prices of £10 adults, £5 senior citizens & students, and free for under 16s apply.
