Saturday sees the first match of the season against our local rivals Wealdstone, a fixture that has seen its fair share of excellent games over the years.
The Stones have been in something of a slump of late, having failed to score in their last 5 games, although that does include two FA Trophy games against Newport County in December. So far in 2011 they have lost to AFC Hornchurch (3-0), Tooting & Mitcham United (1-0) and Margate (also 1-0).
However, in the last seven days they have signed two strikers on a months loan in the shape of Kieran Knight from Maidenhead, he has also been with Hayes and Barnet, and Ryman League hotshot Richard Jolly, who has struggled to get into the starting line up at leaders Sutton United, but has been a regular scorer against the Greens.
Honours were even last season, with Wealdstone winning 3-2 at Vale Farm, Anthony Thomas and Casey Maclaren scoring for the Greens, and Callum Martin scoring a brace with Darren Locke also finding the back of the net.
In the reverse fixture, the Greens ran out comfortable 2-0 winners with goals from Lee O'Leary and Jamie Busby.
Kick off at Grovsenor Vale is at 3.00pm, and there are no plans for an inspection before the game.
