Finchley, after a poor start to the season, have developed a powerful side, which is now playing on top of its form. It was therefore most unfortunate that Golders Green had to visit Summers Lane last Saturday with a depleted team. Finchley won by 6-0.

At kick-off time the visitors had only nine men available, Bucci and Fontana having failed to appear. A tenth man was found, but the side was not completed until about five minutes before half-time. The Golders Green management, and especially their players, deserve every symapthy, but having said this, it must be said that the match became something of a fiasco. Finchley won 6-0, and but for an excellent display in goal by A. Stidder, who had hardly a moment's respite, the Green's defeat must have been even heavier.

Finchley won the toss and, playing down the slope against ten men, were continuously on the attack. Right from the kick-off they scored. F. Boston put across to Young, whose height enabled him to beat Fisher and head into the net.

A few minutes later Munday was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area - a somewhat harsh decision. F. Boston scored from the spot. Young scored a third from Haskow's pass, following a free kick, and George netted the fourth from a centre by F. Boston. At this stage the Green's eleventh man appeared, and further disaster was averted until the interval.

In the second half the Green had a little more of the play, but failed to push home the advantage of the slope. Then Finchley got away and Young made it 5-0. Changes in the formation of the visiting attack brought no more punch into the forward line, and towards the end Young scored again from F. Boston's centre.
