Hendon produced a performance every bit as slick as the wet conditions on Saturday afternoon as they maintained their 100% record in pre-season with a dominant 2-0 win over a committed Southern League Central Division side Dunstable Town at Creasey Park.
There were two new faces in the squad, both left-backs sharing the 90 minutes between them equally. Cameron Currie, who it was later confirmed had signed for the coming season from Cockfosters played the first half, whilst Mahlando Martin, a former Watford youngster played the second period.
After a fairly even start, the Greens began to dominate proceedings with Garry Malone in the home goal twice denying Leo Pedro with smart stops before the number 10 converted Currie's pass with a well taken volley into the far corner of the net for his third goal of pre-season.
Chances continued to be created with regularity - Kezie Ibe was just unable to get a touch onto another Currie cross before side-footing wide of the near post, Lewis Davis was denied by a brilliant Malone save as he turned a curling strike from 20 yards of the crossbar at full stretch before Currie fashioned himself a chance showing neat footwork to dance into a shooting position, but fired well over the top.
It wasn't all one way traffic, Dunstable had a spell of concerted pressure and could have equalised when Ben Collins twice went close with good efforts that went wide of either post.
The second goal arrived just before the break and was a peach. Neat build-up play on the edge of the Dunstable box saw a precise through ball threaded through for Keagan Cole to burst onto. As Malone narrowed the angle, Cole's dinked finish was as classy as it was accurate.
McCann made seven changes at the break, but the changes did nothing to break Hendon's rhythm. The front three of Reis Stanislaus, Taron Dawkins and Zak Joseph linked up nicely and with plenty of threat whilst Malachy McGovern belied his tender age with a mature performance at the heart of the midfield. Dawkins, Joseph and Stanislaus were all denied by the excellent Malone - the save from a Stanislaus drive fully matching his stop from Davis in the first half - whilst Stanislaus was unable to get a good connection on at least two good balls into the penality area when unmarked.
Dunstable continued to defend stoically, their number 6 Scott Betts particularly impressive with a number of vital challenges and interceptions, to ensure that there was no further additions to the scoreline.
