Hendon played out their first friendly of the summer at a very wet Silver Jubilee Park on Tuesday evening, with Gary McCann running the rule over a number of trialists as well as plenty of first teamers getting some action.
Hanwell were the team to strike first, when the Greens failed to clear a corner sufficiently and the ball was bundled into the net.
However, this spurred the home side into action, and Niko Muir broke into the box. His shot was blocked by the Hanwell keeper, but Zak Joseph, one of the new summer signings, was on hand to chip the ball over the keeper and into the net.
In the 14th minute the Greens moved ahead when Keagan Cole carried the ball to the by-line, sent the ball across the goal and Leo Pedro, a trialist who was with Uxbridge last season, was left unmarked to slide the ball into the net with the keeper left helpless.
And it was Pedro who scored the third in the 28th minute when he scored a fine effort from the edge of the area.
Half time and the second half saw the usual pre-season raft of substitutions, but was marred early on by a Hanwell player appearing to twist his knee and suffer a possible serious injury.
He was stretchered off to sympathetic applause from those present, and a paramedic was seen to arrive within a few minutes. Reports after the game suggested the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared, and he was on his way to hospital to be checked over.
When play resumed after the injury break, the play was largely even with chances at a premium, although Montel Joseph did have to make one sharp save midway through the half.
