Golders Green took two points from Finchley in the first of their Whitsun matches at Claremont Road on May 19, so rising to eighth place in the League Table.
Both sides were below strength, Golders Green lacking Roberts, Topp and Cochrane, while Finchley, apart from Milne's absence on League duty, had several unfamiliar faces in their XI.
The Green were soon on the attack and after 15 minutes, a good move from a throw in, culminated with Gallacher putting a long punt through to Robshaw, who went on to score. After half an hour Worthington put Stroud away; he beat two men, cut in, and with a fine cross shot, put the Green two up. Seven minutes later Gallacher, who played well throughout, put Fair away, and another good movement, via King and Stroud, enabled Griffiths to score the 3rd.
Just before the interval, Finchley reduced their arrears when a ball rebounded from Worthington to Crome, who went through well to beat Teevan.
The second half was very even, with Crome outstanding for Finchley, but towards the close play deteriorated on both sides.
