The Town opened their new ground at Cricklewood-lane under very successful conditions on Saturday. The weather was ideal, and a large crowd witnessed an interesting game with Hampstead rather easy winners over their near neighbours, Kilburn, by 5 goals to 1. The game was for London League (Division 1.) points. J. H. Parker made a successful reappearance at right-half after his injuries received at the back end of last season, and another well-known local player wearing the club colours for the first time was O. F. Neale, who did the hat trick, scoring three of the goals. Hampstead lost the toss and had to face a strong sun but were favoured by the wind. The Kilburn defence were early in a tangle, and the Town were leading by three goals within the first twenty minutes. Kilburn played up strongly after this, but Matthews in the Town goal was only beaten once. The second half was interesting, but the Town always had the game in hand, and added two further goals. Garlick and Sumner made a fine left wing, and the latter was unlucky in not scoring on several occasions. Hampstead had to take the field without their captain, W. J. Denham, and vice-captain, E. L. Hudson, and the result was therefore the more meritorious.
