Barking were visited on Saturday in the London League and a very strenuous and enjoyable game resulted.
A better understanding between the forwards would probably have enabled the Town to gain a victory, whereas the game was lost by the narrow margin of one goal to nil.
Twice within the first ten minutes Garlick at outside left gave his inside men an open goal and an acceptance of these opportunites would probably have decided the result, as the Town's defence proved equal to all the demands made on it after the scoring of Barking's solitary goal.
Barking's crack goalkeeper Robinson, gave a splendid display, as also did the Town's custodian, Matthews. One of the finest features of a well contested match was the splendid kicking of the Town's right back, G. Rathbone, who did not make a mistake.
