Page Green Old Boys were entertained on Saturday at the Avenue ground in the Premier Division, Middlesex League, the Town being successful by 2 goals to 1. Keen rivalry exists between the Clubs, and Saturday’s game was more in the nature of a cup match than a League contest. The first half was very evenly contested, both goalkeepers effecting some fine saves before A. Tomkins opened the score for the Town. This lead, however, was soon lost, Beech, the visiting centre forward, equalising with grand shot, and honours were still easy at the interval. Shortly after resuming A. Tomkins, who had only the goalkeeper to beat close in, was the recipient of an unfair charge, for which a penalty kick was fairly awarded, W. H. Hooper scoring. This reverse seemed to unsettle the visitors, who proceeded to beat themselves by injudicious tactics. Referee Allen had most unenviable task, and eventually Edwards, the Old Boys’ left half, was quite justifiably ordered off. Fortunately, this incident happened near the closing stages of the game, and players and spectators alike were relieved when the final whistle was blown. The best man on the field was J. W. Schebsman, the Town’s left-half. This player, who came from Hampstead A.F.A. club, has now settled down in the team, and the defence is greatly strengthened in consequence.
