Hampstead [Town] are gradually improving their position in the Athenian League table, and as their recent successes have all been away from home the chances of another keen tussle for championship honours are promising. Fogbound in London, Hampstead made last minute arrangements for road transit, and although arriving late managed to play the game through and win by one goal to nil. At all stages of the game they were superior, and it was only the brilliant goalkeeping of Clark that saved Cheshunt from a heavier defeat.
C. Wise scored a grand goal twenty minutes after the start, and the Hampstead defence was impregnable. Indeed, the whole team played splendidly throughout, and are proving a well-balanced and dependable side. With the return of Howard, who has commenced training again, the forward line should prove one of the best in London senior circles, and although R. Kirby has signed amateur forms for the Arsenal F.C., he will continue to assist the club regularly, and has no intention at present of joining professional ranks. He has deservedly attracted a good deal of attention by his brilliant and consistent play since he joined the club.
