Hampstead [Town] were robbed of a deserved win over Summerstown in their return Athenian League fixture in the last kick of the match. Many good scoring chances were missed in the opening stages, and both teams were troubled by the heavy going. Hampstead attacked more frequently, and eventually H.S. White, cleverly beating the concentrated defence of the visitors, centred well and gave S. Howard an easy and open goal.
Determined efforts by Summerstown were unavailing before the interval, and immediately after resuming H.J. Gillham failed with a penalty kick. He shot straight at Evans, who only partially cleared, and subsequent exciting efforts to net were foiled by cool work by W.G. Brooker.
C. Wise scored a grand goal, which, however, was ruled offside, and right on time J.W. McEwen notched the equaliser with the Hampstead left wing defence badly at fault and C.B. Evans out of his charge. On the run of the play the visitors were well pleased with the 1-1 draw.
