For the first time this season Hampstead Town on Saturday won full Athenian League points, the score at Bromley being 3-2 in favour of Hampstead. Two goals accruing from free kicks for fouls is suggestive of wild play with just retribution, but Bromley's tally against Hampstead resulted from penalties for purely accidental and debatable infringements. The first was converted by Radford with a tremendous shot, and the second proved a well-judged effort by Mockford. Hampstead, however, gained a well-deserved victory by three goals to two in this away match played in true Athenian and thoroughly enjoyable style.
The introduction of the well-known amateur, G. Wodehouse, in the Hampstead team at inside-right, minimised the handicap created by the temporary absence of S. Howard, injured, and the Hampstead front line played a sparkling game. After twenty minutes' even play G. Wodehouse headed the first goal from H.S. White's accurate centre. Radford equalised for Bromley with his penalty kick almost immediately after. C. Wise, who fed his partners in wonderful style, regained the lead with a grand goal, and later R. Kirby registered from a dashing individual effort. With their undoubted superiority on the general play thus established, the margin of Hampstead's success was reduced by Mockford's free kick goal just before the conclusion.
