Despite the handicap of playing ten men practically throughout the game, H. Woodward (left half) retiring with a twisted knee shortly after the start, Hampstead [Town] easily accounted for Staines Lagonda by three goals to none in the divisional semi-final of the Amateur Cup on Saturday, and thus qualified to meet Southall, at Southall, on November 12th. This stage of the competition has been reached only once before in the history of the club, and a big effort will be made to progress further this season.
Following the accident to Woodward, which, although not serious, will keep him out of the side for some time, a slip by the opposing defence allowed R. Kirby to gather the ball and score with a good shot. Although Hampstead had the best of matters, no further goals accrued before the interval, but twenty minutes after resuming C. Wise put the finishing touch to a brilliant effort by S. Howard, who has greatly strengthened the Hampstead front line at inside right. R. Kirby got another, and the best goal of the match, just before the conclusion. The losers gave a good display, and their left back and right half were always prominent.
