The two Athenian League games between Hampstead Town and Guildford have been drawn. At Cricklewood-lane on Saturday, Guildford, through Mills, scored early in the game, but Wise, the home captain, who was in brilliant shooting form, equalised, and later took advantage of a beautiful centre by his partner, White, to give Hampstead the lead. This they should have held. There was much offensive work, but a weakness in front of goal was detected, and instead of adding further goals, they allowed Guildford to equalise, Jenner doing the needful. The visitors deserve credit for the plucky and clean fight but on the run of play they should not have gone home with a point.

Many of Hampstead Town's supporters left the Cricklewood-lane ground on Saturday very disappointed. Something better than a draw of 2-2 with Guildford was expected, and the form shown will certainly not land the Athenian League championship, nor lead to bigger gates. Two points out of a possible six ought to convice the committee that the team wants strengthening.
H.G. Baxter, the County back, stood down in favour of W.G. Brooker, but the defence did not seem too reliable. Brooker certainly improved as time went on, but Dunstone has played better. It seemed as if Evans should have saved the first goal. A.W. Thwaites, at centre-half, is an acquisition. A good man was lost in C.A. Burrage, but on Saturday's form there is his equal in the new-comer.
The father of the team, H.F. Woodward, the left-half, maintains his form. How long has he been playing in local football? The question was asked at the ground on Saturday. We seem to remember him playing for West Hampstead in Cricklewood-lane something like twenty years ago.
The shooting of the forwards was not convincing. C. Wise, captain of the team, scored two fine goals, and had a valuable partner in H.S. White, who centred beautifully, but the centre and right wing men lost many chances. On the run of the play Hampstead ought to have won by at least four goals. The Guildford keeper, in the second half, was baffled by the sun, and if the shooting had been up to standard must have been beaten several times. Briscoe was missed.
