Last Saturday Golders Green visited Sutton for their Athenian League match with Sutton United and contrived a draw 2-2.

When the team left Golders Green it seemed that the journey would be in vain, but fortunately upon arrival at Sutton the conditions were such as to enable the game to be played, although it was difficult to follow.

Golders Green had to make a last-minute change to the chosen side owing to the indisposition of their new back, C.V. George. E.F. Cox, the young reserve back, was brought in and gave a very creditable show.

Sutton United had the better of the exchanges during the first 20 minutes, when Kimber brought off a couple of great saves. Golders Green then settled down and attacked strongly, but found Carr, the home goalkeeper, in good form.

There was no score at half-time and the teams crossed straight over. Almost immediately Golders Green took the lead, Breagan heading in folllowing a corner kick taken by F. Boston. Ten minutes later Jordan equalised for Sutton from a pass by Solly.

Walker restored the lead for the Green following good work by the left wing pair, Boston and Evans. In the last minutes of the game Cox got injured and following this Sutton equalised, Solly scoring from a pass by Tarrant.

The outstanding player for Sutton was their goalkeeper, who saved his side from defeat, dealing with difficult shots effectively from [F.] Boston and Walker. Tarrant, the Irish International, was hardly seen - Broadis was always his master.
