A brilliant display by 'keeper John Swannell kept Walthamstow at bay on Thursday night after their centre-half J. Allen had scored an own goal to give us the lead in the 25th minute.

We did not have matters our own way and some good running and chasing by our young opponents - spoiled by our poor finishing - gave our lads a lively time.

Jimmy Quail, however, put the issue beyond doubt when he scored in the 81st minute and again in the 89th minute with a brilliant shot on the turn with his left from 25 yards.
