Last Saturday saw us safely through to the next round of the FA Cup at the expense of our unbeaten Isthmian colleagues Leytonstone, but not before we had some very anxious moments.
Leytonstone scored first after Roy Sleap kicked a certain goal off the line, but from the resultant corner John Swannell was banged into the back of the net. The referee was the only one present who did not think it was a foul, so the goal stood.
It was not until the second half that our lads got cracking, and forced Leytonstone centre-half Roy Hill to head back towards his own goal. Unfortunately for him the 'keeper had come out and the ball bounced into the net.
The winning goal could not be disputed. Danny Lakey breasted down a through pass from David Hyde and hit a first time shot that hit the inside of the post and into the net.
We should have made the issue safe a few minutes later when Peter Slade put a great pass across the goal, but the forwards overran it and the defence scrambled it away.
