Ilford well deserved the points at Newbury Park for they played with much more determination and enthusiasm and our lads did not come out of their shell until late in the game when the points were slipping from them.
True, the swirling wind and difficult ground conditions did not help and Ilford were fortunate in getting their second goal when a clearance from Geoff Riddy rebounded from the face of the centre forward for the wind to carry the ball into the net away from John Swannell.
Roy Sleap tried hard to get the team out of thei rlethargic style of play without result.
