What a remarkable contrast to our performance at Woking the previous week when we were beaten 1-5.
Then, after opening in promising style and dominating the first ten minutes, we unaccountably fell away and never recovered.
On Saturday we started well, with Jimmy Quail the dominating factor and David Swain leading the attack with great spirit. His hard work was a revelation, particularly in the distribution of the ball, and he was decidedly unlucky not to have scored more than the two goals to his credit!
We went into the attack right from the kick-off and though Oxford fought back they could not match the spirit or skill of our boys and from the time Roy Drake opened the score in the 14th minute from a David Hyde cross the lads went from strength to strength, gaining further goals through David Swain (2), David Hyde and Jimmy Quail.
Undoubtedly Jimmy's improved form set the temp of the game, the team's stamina and speed of thought and movement proving too much for the visitors.
