It took a Danny Lakey penalty in the 17th minute to set our boys alight in this second round London Senior Cup tie. Prior to that, the mud, plus the destructive methods of the Southall defence, had our boys bogged down.

Then a fine goal by Jimmy Quail, from a delightful back header from Dave Bassett, and a typical Laurie Churchill goal just before the interval, when he dribbled round the goalie to tap into an empty net, sealed the match for our lads.

Following the interval the offside tactics of the opposition, plus some very doubtful tackles ruined the game as a spectacle and our boys justifiably kept out of trouble, being content to hang on to their win.
