Hendon got back to winning ways after last week's dismal showing at Moneyfields with a well-deserved 2-1 win over mid-table Ascot United at Silver Jubilee Park yesterday afternoon.

After falling behind in the 5th minute to a Cameron Rohart-Brown strike, the Greens overcame a slow start to take control of the game in the closing stages of the first half. Victor Ferrini came closest with a searing strike that brought a tremendous save from Kie Plumley, who turned the ball onto the crossbar.

The equaliser, when it came nine minutes into the second half, was scored by Dave Diedhiou, turning home a loose ball after Ascot had failed to clear a corner kick.

Although Hendon remained on top, and created several good chances, it looked as though they would have to settle for a share of the points until Diedhiou rose highest to meet Rohdell Gordon's free kick to grab his eighth goal of the campaign in the 7th minute of stoppage time.

The late winner sees the Greens move five points clear of the drop zone, and within five points of seventh as they sit in 16th place in the table.
